When Less is More

Women’s History Month is always big for our team, and this year was no exception (and this is the best picture I got from it all—LOL).
It’s not just Women’s History Month, either. We typically hit the ground running each January, which bleeds into February, making the whole of Q1 feel insane. This might very well be a recurring pattern for me, but as we closed out another full March, I was READY. TO. REST.

What did I do to rest, you ask? How did I reset? Well, naturally, I jumped right into planning Q2.

My birthday is in April, and it always feels like a new start, so I busied myself deciding how I wanted to show up for myself in my next year of life. I took this to my therapist the following week and – surprise, surprise –  it didn’t go over so well.

After I shared with her the four (pretty huge) things I wanted to focus on over the coming year, which is the last of my 30s (kind of a big deal!!!), she asked one question: “So, are you still struggling with constant overwhelm?”

To which my answer was: “Yes, yes, of course.”

I mean… I could barely respond to email for a whole week after my team and I executed This is Her (thank you to all who came!!!) alongside Bradley Fair. If that doesn’t count as “little b” burnout, I don’t know what does. Ha!

So, I’m shifting to a less-is-more approach for myself this quarter and hoping to hold on to that as I go into this last year in my 30s. I’m aiming to focus on me: my physical health, learning more about my mental and emotional health, and attempting to reset my nervous system.

I’ll be interested to see what life looks like on the other side : )

Have you ever had a season where less is more? If so, I would love to hear from you!
