Hello, April!

When I picture my future self, she knows how to garden. She spends time outside in the dirt, planting seeds that grow into something delicious. She plucks said delicious items from the garden and uses them to have an al fresco meal with her family, all while teaching her boys about the meaning of life. Basically going full out Joanna Gaines in a spring issue of Magnolia magazine.

Well, after many years of dreaming of having my own garden beds, my husband built me some this past weekend. And when they were done our oldest son was ready to jump in and start planting. I was too, but in reality I knew I needed to do some research to set us up for success. You know, like googling "Gardening 101" or something.

And that got me thinking about life. Some seasons in life are planting seasons, when you have to make a plan, gather what is needed, dive in and hope for the best. Some are watering seasons, where you must tend to what you have planted and navigate what has popped up along the journey. Some are harvesting seasons, where you get to reap the benefits of your hard work.

As much we may desire harvest season, I suspect my six year old does, that's not life. That's not how vegetables or people grow. And here's the truth: harvest is not the only good part. There is so much to gain in the other seasons too. Joy, resilience, education, patience, camaraderie and much more. We just have to open our eyes to notice it.

So I want to encourage us this month to be present within the season that we're in. Let's aim to see what is right in front of us and ask ourselves what we can do to maximize our efforts and experience right now, right where we are. Sometimes, it's as simple as a shift in perspective.

Wishing you a fruitful quarter two,
Audra
