Kendra’s 2024 Vision Board Mid-Year Update
At the beginning of the year, we hosted a vision board workshop for our alum to create a visual representation of dreams and goals for 2024. Since we are halfway through the year, our team decided to check in on our plans. We’re sharing what’s going well, what’s not (yet) and any changes we’ve made. We would love to hear from you too - share your mid-year update!
What's Going Well
One of the themes on my board was simplicity and home. When I did my vision board I thought that would mean decluttering my home and trying to have less "things". What has played out the first six months of the year was us moving to a new home!!! What?! Now that we're here I realize that I was craving simplicity in my routine and space to feel organized. We had definitely outgrown our old house. Our new home has us feeling completely centered and like this is where we're supposed to be. We've lived here for a month and it feels like we've been here for years.
What's Not (Yet)
What isn't in motion yet is my goal to cook more and incorporate the boys into it. We had started doing this last year and had some success but we lost focus and are not making it a priority yet. (Let's say that we were just trying to survive the transition with the move). Why this is important to me is that our boys (mainly our oldest) are extremely picky with food. I want to cook more with the boys and get them excited to try new foods. My husband and I do meal prep, but I want to explore doing different meals a few times each week to see if it encourages our boys to try new foods. Meal time is a battle for our family and I want to make it more of something we look forward to. We also believe that eating healthy and fueling our bodies is the best path to live a long and fruitful life. What steps am I going to take? I'm going to work with the boys to pick 2 recipes for next week that we're going to try. Hold me to it!
Changes
One of the changes to my vision that isn't incorporated into my board is our desire to create more experiences with our boys. While we are home bodies, we want to get out and do more things as a family. This is also part of HAVING less things but DOING more things. How are we doing this? We're intentionally saving money each month that will go towards some type of trip for our family. Some years they'll be small quick trips and other years they may be bigger vacations. This summer we're spending a weekend in Kansas City and taking the boys to a Cubs game (they play the Royals)! I'm excited to see these new experiences through the boys' eyes!
